WhatsApp Communities: WhatsApp Community Feature, How it Works

What are WhatsApp Communities?

Whatsapp is now in the process of releasing a number of new features, one of which is a new feature called Communities whatsapp, which is aimed to bring together similar group discussions. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has said on his Facebook page that this update would be made available to all users over the next several months. That's where it hopes to help people by bringing all their group conversations together under one canopy with a framework that works for them.

You will be able to create and easily move between smaller group chats within a community to discuss topics of interest. WhatsApp will provide administrators with strong new tools for managing communities, including the option to broadcast notifications to all members and the flexibility to choose which groups to include.

With this new update, WhatsApp promises a greater sense of security and privacy for its users. It asserts that its end-to-end encryption will make it impossible for anybody, even the corporation, to decipher user communications or access user data.

“With Communities, we're aiming to raise the bar for how organizations communicate with a level of privacy and security not found anywhere else. The alternatives available today require trusting apps or software companies with a copy of their messages - and we think they deserve the higher level of security provided by end-to-end encryption” Whatsapp said.

WhatsApp Communities Feature will also be launched on GBWhatsapp.

WhatsApp Communities Feature explanation?

WhatsApp Communities will be a more feature-rich replacement for your larger Whatsapp group chats, but with some added features like big sharing, 32-person group calls, emoji reaction, as well as special admin and moderations controls, If you have ever used telegram, slack, or even discord, you may already have a good idea of how whatsapp communities will operate. Whatsapp Communities is a lot like Facebook communities, as they both support things like sub-groups, file sharing, admin functionality and more.

However, unlike Facebook Groups, where members may or may not know each other in real life but have a shared interest, WhatsApp Communities are designed for users who may already have a preexisting online or offline connection. WhatsApp is phone number based, therefore users who join these groups likely already know each other in some capacity, either because they have previously swapped numbers or because they have disclosed their number with the group administrator. However, only the administrators and members of your subgroups will be able to see the phone numbers you share.

This is done to strike a compromise between users' need for privacy and the necessity to be reachable by other members of the same group. Additionally, in contrast to Facebook Groups, which are easily searchable, WhatsApp Communities remain secret. There will be no way to find it on your own; instead, you'll need an invite.
